The government wants to change the structure of the NHS so that all health and social care services in one area can be packaged up and contracted out to one big provider, potentially a company like VirginCare, for up to 15 years at a time in something called an Integrated Care Provider Contract (see our page on Integrated Care Systems and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSPDajqPuAo for more details). This will mean less accountability, fewer patient rights and a strong risk of mass privatisation of the NHS.
There is currently a consultation on this development (deadline 26th October). You can sign a petition against the introduction of the ICP contract and also share the link to the petition – https://weownit.org.uk/ICP-petition-NHS.
You can also support legal action against the contract through the Court of Appeal – https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/justice4nhs-stage5-courtofappeal/
