A & E crisis

A&E departments have been facing unprecedented demand, with a number of hospitals now on emergency measures. The reasons behind this crisis are complex but include the effects of privatising the NHS, cutbacks in social care budgets, severe reductions in the numbers of district nurses, the closure of GP surgeries (500 in the last 5 years), and the use of non-clinical staff to deal with 111 calls.
